The well known annual Carolina Cup 2021 celebrated its 10th year with the much anticipated week-long event from November 3rd – 7th, 2021. Held at the crystal blue waters of Wrightsville Beach in North Carolina, hundreds of paddlers, spectators and guests came to witness the thrill and adventure as challengers face the unpredictable waters.
Organized by the Wrightsville Beach Paddle Club, the Carolina Cup 2021 offered fun and exciting activities. Clinics, more than a dozen demos, exhibits and 5 races was fun for the entire family.
The Carolina Cup 2021 celebrated its 10th year with 5 thrilling races drawing top paddlers to the much awaited event. The event started with two races where participants simply got on a board and enjoyed the waters then finished with races where they gave their best and pushed their limits.
The Harbor Island 5K Recreational Race was a 3.5 mile flat water race around Harbor Island on Wrightsville Beach. The race was completed in less than an hour with currents and wind, some boat traffic, but no ocean swells.
The Money Island 10K Open Race was a longer flat water race, considered as a perfect distance and course if you’ve been paddling. The 6 mile race was completed in less than 2 hours.
The much anticipated endurance challenge Graveyard 13.1 Mile Elite Race where some of the best paddlers in the world competed in a flatwater and ocean race that took them two to three and a half hours to finish.
The Graveyard 13.1 Mile Surfski and Outrigger Race started at the water and finished at the beach. Lastly, the enjoyable Kid’s race which kicked off the races on the Sound Slide for kids 6-14.
Various clinics were presented all throughout the week. It included topics from Technique, to Body Mechanics, injury prevention, generating power through the stroke, race strategy and a real time race technique application.
The Carolina Cup 2021 was full of fun and exciting activities. Participants and spectators both enjoyed the great beach and crystal blue waters of Wrightsville Beach. It is an ultimate vacation destination for everyone with lots of water activities to do, from paddle boarding, surfing or fishing or just simply relaxing at the beach.
The Carolina Cup 2021 in Wrightsville Beach, NC was truly an amazing event. It was not just perfect for water sports lovers but also for visitors who wanted to enjoy the outdoors.
